I like to read the blogs of other LOA masters. One in particular is Joe Vitale ("The Attractor Factor", "Zero Limits", appeared in "The Secret"), aka Mr. Fire. Today, he discussed the concept of The Need Zone, something I hadn't yet heard about.
It threw me for a loop. It had my mind grappling to understand the concept, just as Joe said had happened to him when he first heard about it. The idea that one would attract what they need by upping your need for it? Please. I agree with Joe—that's not what one wants to hear when they are already in dire financial straits. As the song says, "I'm already there!"
Besides, isn't needing something counter-intuitive to getting it? Need equals desperation. Need equals lack, and focusing on need/lack only attracts more need/lack. Right?
According to Joe's post, which I encourage you to pop over and read lest I become redundant here, it's possible to attract the resources needed when you stretch yourself into the need.
I thought about it. Then I remembered a time when I first had my horse, and despite a beautiful beginning, within a few months we'd had a major parting of ways on a trail ride and it became very apparent that I hadn't a clue how to read or communicate with my horse. I had no idea how to predict what he may or may not do, never mind what to do about it, and that created fear.
I needed someone to teach me how to understand horses, fully and completely, and I needed it NOW. It seemed impossible. Nobody at my barn seemed all that savvy; I didn't know any horsemen other than Dad and he was beyond the age where he could show me. I was on my own and lost.
Then I found a training program that said it would teach me exactly what I needed to know. I bought it... and it worked. Far better than skeptical me had anticipated.
There were more memories of similar incidents where needs were met once I determined I needed them. But I still didn't quite get it.
Then I smacked myself. I just had one this week. While I have some money in the bank, my pocket money was running low. Pocket money, in my book, is the extra cash I make for small jobs that I don't put in the checking account—I get paid in cash, and use that for little things like going out to dinner, buying milk and lotto tickets, entertainment. That way I avoid draining the checking account paying for incidentals. I had a stray thought that I needed to get more pocket money.
The temp agency called last week to let me know that one of the part-time positions I've occasionally taken was starting back up again. The job is doing phone surveys. Not terrible, but not great pay.
But I've put off calling to commit because I have serious reservations about going back. It is VERY hard on the voice. Nine weeks of calling people and wrestling them into doing 200-question surveys left me hoarse. As a vocalist, I knew I was on the road to nodes and permanent vocal damage despite using my voice properly and caring for it. In addition, it's loud in the room, hard to hear, and I'd turned up the volume to the max. I've noticed the hearing loss in that ear has become a tad more pronounced in certain note ranges. Not good. After my last stint with them, I'd decided I was done with phone surveys, and had already made up my mind that I wasn't going back ever.
I was very surprised by the call. I'd been intending for a completely different type of work. Why was THIS making a re-appearance?
Oh.
DUH.
Because I'd asked for it.
I'd declared a need for more pocket money. And that job is the easiest way to snag some. I inadvertently put myself directly into the Need Zone for pocket money. I didn't have to stretch very far to have the resources walk up and meet me (if I wanted to take them).
So... perhaps I need to restate my need. Think bigger, so I attract bigger. Instead of needing pocket money, my need should be more expansive.
If I'm understanding this correctly, then theoretically, were I to say, "OK, I AM going to graduate school, and the money for tuition and living expenses is coming from somewhere (stipend or not)" and really put my foot down... then it would happen?
Meaning, I might not win the lottery just because I declare I need money. Where is the REASON? Just to have the money?
If I declared I was winning the lottery and had a very good reason for it then stretched into the reason while awaiting the outcome, would that put me into the Need Zone and finally attract that win?
If I declared that the vacant home I still have IS sold, and I have a very good reason for attracting a buyer out of thin air (no matter what, despite the economy/housing market), then stretch into the reason for the sale while awaiting his or her arrival, does that put me into the Need Zone?
Maybe the trick is to have a very good REASON for needing the money or resource—then declare it, then stretch into it by performing the steps toward the goal (registering to take the GRE, preparing essays and portfolios—conscious, concrete efforts), and expect the money/resource to arrive.
Or declare your intent to start a business, and have a REASON for the partner to show up. And so on.
I think this is what Joe is talking about. Who knows? Maybe he'll come by and read this and tell me if I'm on the right track. I could sure use the added insights!

What Are You WHYning About?
What are you WHYning about today?
We all do it. We all find ourselves saying, "Why me?" or "Why did that happen again?" Some say the cure is to ask "Well, why NOT me?" I say we can probe deeper and make permanent changes. You see, I've noticed something.
The interesting thing about our complaints is that they tend to answer the very questions they ask.
Beliefs generate thought energy that attracts situations and circumstances that are in alignment with the belief. Whatever we believe, we speak aloud to others as statements—or as complaints. If the situation is favorable in our opinion, we proclaim it as a statement. But if the situation is not to our liking, we complain about it, and it usually comes out as a WHYne.
Here is an example of a standard WHYne:
Why does it always seem like every time I get close to getting ahead, something comes along to undo it?
Well... it's because this is what your belief IS!
Just remove the "why does" part and turn it into a sentence/statement, and the belief hidden within the complaint is revealed.
(Why does) it always seem like every time I get close to getting ahead, something comes along to undo it(?)
Becomes:
It always seem(s) like every time I get close to getting ahead, something comes along to undo it!
So why does it seem this way? Because it just does! Because YOU believe that it does.
What is the positive opposite of this belief? Well, there are a lot of options. One possibility is this:
It always seems like every time I get close to getting ahead, something comes along to make it even better.
Or, you could try:
I'm so glad that I seem to be getting ahead now.
You could even go so far as to turn a positive opposite into a tongue-in-cheek WHYne, but with a positive aspect:
Why does it always seem so easy for me to get ahead?
I mean, if we're going to complain, at least we can get into the habit of complaining positively, right?
Change the belief that is hidden within the WHYne, and you will change your life. Now—what have YOU been WHYning about today?

Can We Rethink It?
You know, if we all quit thinking of it as a "financial crisis", it would quit BEING a financial crisis.
I vote we all refer to it as "the financial transition" from now on. Then picture it transitioning into prosperity.
I mean, what the hey--we're awfully good at mass manifesting a CRISIS, right? What if we used our powers for good rather than evil?
Just a thought.

Oh, As IF—and, How Do You Deal with Fear?
Today I must admit to something that I'm not proud of.
I'm not always cheerful and upbeat. Nor am I always the best representation of a follower of the LOA or someone of faith.
Sometimes, I fall down.
Yesterday was one of those days. (Before we go on, today is better, so fear not for my well-being.)
In hindsight, I realize there was a lesson in all of this, and that I had to go through it to be able to understand it when others go through it, which they will, so that I can help them by example.
I've been reading Barbara Sher's book with the impossibly long title, "I Could Do Anything If I Only Knew What It Was: How to Discover What You Really Want and How to Get It". We'll call it Sher's book for brevity's sake. Many of the exercises correlate to self-analysis work I've already done, but some are new. I do those. Most of them.
One exercise wants you to ask yourself which of the Four Feelings is the one you're experiencing right now. The Four are Anger, Fear, Hurt and Joy, as these are the most basic emotions we feel. Other emotions, like grief or resentment, are combinations or variations of the Four.
Well I opened up a can of worms Sunday night. The one that came up was ANGER. With a capital everything. I had no idea. I thought I was just sort of sad. Turns out, I am PISSED OFF BEYOND BELIEF. At my Mother. At my sibling. At my childhood. At myself. At former bandmates and beaus. At my old jobs. At all of the injustice I've experienced in my life. I let it all out. It was a long night. But I slept well, and I woke up feeling...
Not so good. REALLY bad, in fact. I haven't felt this down-deep depressed in a long time. And it lasted all day. It was so bad... I actually wrote up a note of whom to call in case I couldn't take it anymore—who gets the cats and horses, who to email... in a way, that might have been part of the purge because after that and hours of crying, sobbing and grieving, I felt better. Not good, mind you, but the feeling had passed.
Yes, it was hours of torture going through it. Wave after wave of excruciating emotional pain kept coming up. I cried myself hoarse and my eyes still feel like sandpaper. Apparently I'd crossed from ANGER to HURT.
Thing is, I'd been attributing the emotion to frustration, and believing it was because of my blocked financial situation. I live in Ohio. Our economy isn't the best right now. The excuses are, I have things to sell but due to the economy in this state (when I switch into the old thinking of "being realistic"), nobody's buying; the estate hasn't closed because the house hasn't sold; my employable skills apply to jobs that aren't available right now and the jobs that are available don't align with my skills (or won't hire me because of that nasty little glitch called being "overqualified"), and the correlation between the amount available in my bank account versus the bills that need to be paid is way out of balance.
Poor me.
Wahhh.
It took HOURS to work through all of this. Alone. At the tail end of the sobbing, when I'd finally wore myself out, I begged God to help me. I became very quiet. I had nothing left in me, nothing left to say.
For a moment or two, there was nothing but the silence after the storm.
Then a small, soft voice in my head said:
Act as if it is all right.
Huh?
It continued.
What would you be doing differently tomorrow, if you KNEW help was on its way, if you KNEW that in a few days, it WOULD be all right?
Well, hell. I'd never considered... that I might be living my life anyway BUT that way. This voice and I had a conversation in which it was pointed out to me that I'd been living as if it was NOT going to be all right, and all of my actions—or lack thereof—sent out that message.
Naturally, it attracted the very experiences to me that I didn't want to have, and voila—here I am.
I realized that if I truly believed that everything was on the upswing, whether it had manifested any visual signs yet or not, I would be living a little bit differently every day.
I'd be focusing on improvement (not just emotional): getting in shape, cleaning up the house, sorting stuff, preparing for the future that was on its way. I would NOT be living every day as if it might be the last day I have heat, or with full-on scarcity mindset, putting off stuff and refusing to "get involved" because what's the point? Why get deeply entrenched in a recording or creative project, or my horsemanship studies, or studying for the GRE, when by next week or next month, I might be giving away all my possessions because the person whose couch I'll be occupying when the money runs out doesn't have room to store them all, or I'll be working two jobs just to pay the bills and won't have time for "such nonsense"?
Yes, one's brain can think up some pretty wild thoughts, can't it? It's tricky, true, but my mind is really making an enormous mountain out of an inconvenient little molehill that I really am quite capable of overcoming. The house is paid for, in fact it still belongs to the estate, not me; so the chance of being evicted by anyone is unlikely. I do have friends who would help me out in a crisis if I'm too embarrassed to request a small advance from the estate, and I'm not in serious debt (no credit cards). There are jobs out there, and who knows? If I focus on what I want, I can create it. Hell, I seem to be pretty good at creating the other stuff, right?
The point is, my mind was tricking me. It was feeding into my fears, and it was using MONEY to set up a crisis so that I would avoid dealing with the feelings that I accidentally wound up dealing with this weekend. I even, at one point, seriously doubted the validity of the LOA.
Sidenote: Just because someone had great parents and a nice upbringing doesn't mean there wasn't pain.
When I realized that I'd been sitting on a schload of anger and hurt, and hiding it behind semi-imaginary money woes that I'd created all by myself, I was in shock. When I realized that I'd been acting and speaking as if it was NOT turning out OK, even though I thought I was doing otherwise, I was horrified.
Shortly thereafter, I outlined how I'd behave if I believed, and I began to feel better.
This morning, I caught myself in a thought process I was surprised to have. I realized I'll need to be very diligent and observant because scarcity thinking can be sneaky.
I was wondering, "should I maybe check into the insurance agents I see advertised on TV all the time and see if I can lower my car insurance payment even further?"
Not because it's a great deal, but because then I would have less going out, more to live on, not use up my savings so fast in the event that things didn't improve...
SMACK! What did you JUST think?!?!?
Oh, my. A very complex, convoluted thought, and it was right back into scarcity.
" in the event that things didn't improve..."
Naughty, naughty!
So it isn't enough just to decide "OK I'm going to act as if from now on". Nope, I have to watch myself because the scarcity thinking is so deeply ingrained it filters out subtly without my even noticing.
How do you fix it?
By becoming aware of it and perishing the thoughts.
How does one live "as if"?
It's not that I should go out and act as if I'm a multimillionaire and start spending like crazy. That would be dumb. But what can I do that is in alignment with being "OK" that doesn't cost anything? There are plenty of actions along those lines. When I start doing those as much as possible, I'm sending out the message that I believe.
My objective is to maintain the lifestyle I had before my parents died, which is a comfortable neither-rich-nor-poor lifestyle in which my needs are met and I'm able to enjoy the small pleasures that make life worth living, like an occasional dinner out, a movie matinee, a short roadtrip, and so on.
Continually trimming out more and more things until I'm down to food, absolute basic utilities, and shelter with absolutely no room for even one night out is sending a message of a belief in scarcity.
But that reality thing... so someone asks me to go check out that new restaurant in town. I could answer "truthfully",
"Sorry. Can't afford to right now. Maybe later."
Or, I could answer "as if":
"Sure, I'd love to! This is a busy time—how about we try for next week/next month?"
Not ruling it out. Not claiming scarcity. Just, scheduling it for the future. Which is going to be FINE. Which will be a time when I am more than able to afford it. And, visualizing ahead to the day we go and check it out. Then letting it go. Forgetting about it until next month, when...
Surprise, I'll be able to afford to go.
As for my bills, I'll do triage. Pay the most urgent. Partial pay the less-urgent. Decide that it's OK to pay some next week, when there is more money. Fix these thoughts in my mind. Hold the visualizations then let them go. Expect it to be fine. Expect that the job is appearing. Expect that the blocks are dissolving.
And act as if it IS working out.
But... what about the fear?
Well, emotions come in and go out much like a ride on a rollercoaster. They start at the bottom, quietly, then rise, rise, rise until they peak, then you freefall back down until they subside and go away.
The trick is to hang on for the ride. I've discovered three ways that we deal with emotions.
What usually happens is we sense the feeling rising, and we think NONONONONO and try to push it away. RESIST. Panic rises inside of us because we do not want to feel this. So it tries even harder to get to us, and eventually either we stuff it back down for awhile (ever wary of its next attempt) or it gets us anyway.
When it is suggested that we allow the experience, people worry, "but isn't that going to attract more of it to me?"
Nope. To attract it requires either resisting it (which energizes it) or SENDING IT OUT on purpose. That requires a conscious effort to push it out. Raising your arms and sending it out, or pushing it from your solar plexus—both require active energy.
That's not what I'm talking about.
ALLOWING the feeling is like passive-resistance. You see it coming. Instead of rising up to battle it, or actively sending it out, you STOP. Just stop and be still. Wait for it. Continue to stay calm and breathe through it. You let the energy come TO you and go THROUGH you, but you do not add your own energy to it.
Think of yourself like a reed in the water. Usually it is still and calm. But you see it, on the horizon, an enormous wave is headed your way. If you fight it stiffly, you will break under the weight of it. But if you bend... it will wash over you. You will withstand it, and then it will pass and calm will return.
What you do is you open yourself up, and welcome it. When you feel it beginning to rise, you take a deep breath and set your internal stance to a power position where you cannot be knocked over. Then you wait. The feeling comes. It will rise. It will reach a point where you think "I cannot withstand this anymore". This is the peak.
This is the point where most people cave in, and they either put up the fight or they break.
This is the point where you hold strongest. One more deep breath, and...
There it goes. It's subsiding. Only this time it will likely stay gone.
If it's fear, it'll rise, peak, and fall away.
If it's anger, same thing, but you may need to open a portal and express it safely. Write in a journal, punch a pillow, or yell.
If it's pain, you will have to allow the tears. It's going to hurt like hell at the peak, and that will be scary, but stay with it.
I promise. If you stay with it, and ride over the crest, you will land safely on the ground again, and you will be fine.
I should know. I'm speaking from personal, recent experience.
I'm not always cheerful and upbeat. Nor am I always the best representation of a follower of the LOA or someone of faith.
Sometimes, I fall down.
Yesterday was one of those days. (Before we go on, today is better, so fear not for my well-being.)

What Happens When You Give Away Money?
That's what David, aka the "Bald Guy in a Blue House", intends to find out.
Bald Guy In A Blue House has created the world's first-ever free lottery, based on the Law of Attraction. It's called the Lawterry of Attraction Contest.
After viewing the Secret and learning to use the LOA, Bald Guy has been inspired to try an LOA experiment to see what happens when "a bald guy in a blue house gives away money".
Bald Guy (David) intends to give away a million dollars, $50 at a time, once per week.
No strings attached.
He'll be doing this for five years or until a million has been given away, whichever comes first. It is based on the principle that all abundance comes through us, rather than to or because of us.
The contest is open to anyone in the world. Doesn't matter if you're in Kenya or Antarctica, if you have computer access and an email address and a first name, you are eligible.
To enter, visit
http://www.iwannagivenow.com/
or just click on this link to go straight to the contest. Be sure to visit his blog as well,
http://www.blog.baldguyinabluehouse.com/
One caveat: when entering, if you have an email address such as blank.blank.com, you may get an error message telling you your email is invalid. I was able to sign up using a Yahoo address. GMail will also work.

Deciding
There is a theme continuing in these entries. I feel I'm getting closer and closer to The Answer that will permanently and positively change my life. First, I thought it was about asking for things, like you're placing an order with God/Universe/Source (let's just call it God for simplicity's sake). Then I thought it was about what we focus on.
Then it came to me in the last post that we decide. It's not up to anyone else what we become—no one else can stop us or make it work—each of us is solely responsible for making life work out. Everyone, including God, just subconsciously "agrees" with what we've already decided is true for ourselves, and "becomes" an obstacle, a hindrance or a helper to us.
This morning, the concept of deciding expanded further.
I have been trying in vain to turn myself into a morning person because I feel I'll be more productive, and with the waning daylight and the fall heat, morning seems like a great time to play with my horses. It would also allow me to treat the horse thing more like a job.
For the 9,000th time, I failed to rise at 7:00 AM. Same old situation. To bed too late, tired, unexplained sore/stiff neck, bleaghhhhh... when my eyes finally did pry themselves opened, I asked God:
Not only do we decide who/what we want to be/do/have/experience.
We decide EVERYTHING. Every word out of our mouth is a decision we’ve made.
In addition I was told that Prayer = Deciding; Faith = Expecting Deliverance of the Decision (manifestation).
Here’s an example. I was complaining about the morning rising issue. I said:
He pointed out how I’d surprised myself with how much I’d enjoyed getting up before dawn for the PNH clinics, loved the morning light, the air, the way it smelled, the barn at first light, the fog, the crispness in the air... but always felt like I wasn’t supposed to be enjoying it.
It went against every belief I had about morning!
Read my paragraph of whining again. Now, tell me. How many beliefs can you count?
YES! Every single one is a BELIEF. Rather... it’s what I DECIDED to believe about me and mornings. (I counted seven total.) That’s when it dawned on me (no pun intended) that when I greet someone and they say “how are you today” and I say “I’m OK, but I'm tired, I got up too early today”, I’m basically saying, “I have decided to feel tired today, and I’ve decided that I got up too early and that I don’t like it.” Then, of course, life lines up to present circumstances that underscore just how tired I am today and reminders of how early I got up.
I could have decided that I feel GREAT! I feel more alive than I have in years! But most of us don’t do that automatically. If I’ve decided that’s just how I am, that’s how I’ll BE.
Look at how differently it reads when I add I’ve decided to it:
God said, if I just decide to enjoy rising at 7:00 AM and decide to enjoy going to bed by midnight, and decide to fall right into a sound, peaceful sleep, I WILL.
He also said that every other action/behavior and subsequent related belief will fall into place and align with it.
Decide the root belief, and the others line up.
God said:
As the full force of understanding of this concept sunk in, I found myself laughing. It's so simple, yet so difficult! (Or, as I said, it is if we decide... let's not go there again. It's an endless loop. Or could be. If...)
My challenge for today is to try this exercise: Add the phrase I’ve decided that to everything thought and said throughout the day.
So if I’m thinking to myself and I slip and say “Gosh, I’m tired today”, I have to catch it and say “Wait—so I’ve decided that I’m tired today? NO WAY! I’ve decided that I am full of energy today and well-rested!”
or
"I gotta clean the kitchen" becomes "I've decided to clean the kitchen"
"I'll never lose weight" becomes "I've decided I'll never lose weight... no, wait! I've decided I'm in the process of thinning down!"
I challenge YOU to try this as well. Get some paper. Mentally divide it into thirds. Make two columns: the left is one third of the page and the right is two-thirds wide. In the right (wider) column, write down every complaint, every "this is just how I am" that you have.
You can't change the current circumstances because they are the product of past decisions (or... have I just decided that you can't?), but you CAN change what you decide to bring into your life from now on. The second part of the exercise would be to go back and turn the negatives into positive opposites.
So far, I've decided that I'm happy—not that I'm going to be happy, but that I am right now; I've decided some other things pertaining to the house sales; and I've done a LOT of EFT tapping on other issues, unearthing some core issues I wasn't aware I had.
Life, I've decided, is great.

"Why it is so damned hard for me to manifest this stuff? Why can't I seem to get stuff to change?"I got an answer.
Because you’ve DECIDED it is.Well. That launched a conversation with God that I won’t go into blow-by-blow lest we be here all night, but I'll sum up the more pertinent points.
Not only do we decide who/what we want to be/do/have/experience.
We decide EVERYTHING. Every word out of our mouth is a decision we’ve made.
In addition I was told that Prayer = Deciding; Faith = Expecting Deliverance of the Decision (manifestation).

But, I hate getting up in the morning. I’m not a morning person. If I do get up, it’s only because I HAVE to, like for a job. And I usually feel really tired and draggy all day, because I didn’t get enough sleep the night before, because I went to bed too late. So... that makes a lot of options (careers) not possible for me.The answer:
I said, “How do I change THAT?”
DECIDE to.Very long debate with God about how I can’t just decide to change all that, it’s just who I am, yadda yadda... with His countering me at every turn.
He pointed out how I’d surprised myself with how much I’d enjoyed getting up before dawn for the PNH clinics, loved the morning light, the air, the way it smelled, the barn at first light, the fog, the crispness in the air... but always felt like I wasn’t supposed to be enjoying it.
I said, “Yeah, because it went against every belief I had about morning.”God just smiled (it felt that way). Suddenly, I got it.
It went against every belief I had about morning!
Read my paragraph of whining again. Now, tell me. How many beliefs can you count?

God said:
This will feel a little strange at first—(Me: heh heh, or it will if I’ve decided that it will) because it’s new and unfamiliar. But if you decide that it feels just right, it will.He said:
Watch what you say out loud, to others and to yourself, as well as what you think. If you can’t comfortably proclaim how great everything is because of how it might offend the people who are on perma-downers, then just respond neutrally but THINK it to yourself.Me: or... HA HA HA decide to. (I love me...) I think I’m really beginning to get it. No. Wait. I’ve decided that I’m beginning to get it. HAHAHAHAHA I have to stop laughing at the absurdity of this but it’s so true! And we don’t even realize it! Or, we decide not to! AGH make it stop—
Say: “Oh, I’m good”
but think: “I’m fantastic!!!” (and try to surreptitiously lift their beliefs/decisions as well if you can)—

When your list is complete (and it will be—should be—far longer than this), add the words "I've decided that" to the front of every single line, in the left-hand column. Then read it out loud.
- I hate vacuuming.
- God, my house is a mess.
- People are annoying and they cannot drive.
- This TV show sucks.
- It'd be nice if the neighbor would leave my lawn darts alone, but he never does.
- I love cats and chocolate!
- My boyfriend irritates me, he thinks I'm daft.
- Crap, I'm going to be late again.
- I'll never find a parking space in this lot.
- Don't drink all that soda pop, it'll make you fat!
- That woman is just never going to get a good job unless she learns to dress better.
Does it sound as absurd to you as it does to me? They are all just beliefs, not truths! :-)

Shooting Down Missiles
It is said that one cannot unthink a thought or unspeak a word. True, a word once spoken is out there. But is it really true that a thought cannot be unthought?
What has troubled me most about the LOA is the concept that thought energy manifests itself physically in time, and that the stuff I'm experiencing now is the result of thoughts I had un- or sub-consciously—or even consciously—long ago. Well, how the heck do I know what I might have thought myself into years ago? It's terrifying when you really consider the potential consequences.
It sent me to a miserable place for awhile, pondering what might be up ahead, all because I stupidly mis-thought something but had no idea what that mis-thought might have been. What have I done to myself? What horrors await me? I felt helpless. I've gone and done something to myself that I never intended to do and I have no way to stop it because I wasn't aware enough to know what I was doing at the time, so now all I can do is sit here and brace myself for the onslaught.
Does that make sense?
Well, maybe it doesn't have to be that way.
If the enemy shoots a missile into space, aiming at a target here on Earth, it doesn't mean we're done for. Because we can shoot a missile into space, aimed at the oncoming missile, to intercept it and destroy it before it hits.
Why couldn't we also do this with thought energy?
OK, so you made the mistake of sending out all sorts of negative financial energy. You're awaiting certain ruin. Why? Why not launch a missile of positive financial energy, and intercept the negative energy that is on its way back to you? Followers of Abraham (Esther and Jerry Hicks) call this a "rocket of desire".
Rather than sit back and wait for your own personal apocalypse, send up a rocket of desire. Shoot down the mis-fired thought missiles that are freefalling towards you and blast them full of positive opposite energy.
That's what I'm doing, anyway.
One thing I'm finding VERY useful in my progress is The Clearing Audio, produced by Dr. Joe Vitale ("The Attractor Factor", "Zero Limits", "The Key") and Pat O'Bryan ("Portable Empire"). It's about 20 minutes of soothing new-age music composed by Pat with binaural beats and your choice of a version that is music only, music with subliminal affirmations embedded below the conscious level, or audible affirmations read by Joe. You get all three for one low price. They just released an Advanced Clearing Audio with seven variations, but you must have been using the original Clearing Audio for 30 days straight before you're allowed to download it.
Well, I've been using it for about 10 days now and it is amazing. At first, I played it constantly while being online. Then I downloaded it to my cell phone. Every night, I go to bed and fall asleep to the following sequence:
Clearing Audio (audible affirmations)
Stin's Meditations*
Clearing Audio (subliminal affirmations)
I'm usually out halfway through the first Clearing Audio and wake up to silence. I sleep great. I have pleasant, educational dreams. I no longer experience the 3 AM panic attacks (where you wake up suddenly, panicking, not sure why, thoughts racing)—nope, all gone! I awake refreshed. I feel more confident. Motivated. And the surprising thing is, my storehouse of limiting beliefs is surfacing. This really does work!
I downloaded it March 29th. All my LBs related to the sale of my Grandma's house emerged. I analyzed and addressed them. On April 3rd, we got an offer on the house. It took a week. That's a bit longer than most people experience with this meditation between clearing beliefs and manifesting change, but I figure it's because I had some particularly big blocks to clear. Things ARE unblocking. This is amazing. I advise you to head over there and download it and see for yourself. Then you, too, can clear out your counter intentions and start sending out wondrous rockets of desire, and launch anti-counter-intention missiles into your personal universe.
*Stin Meditations: Stin is the host of My Thought Coach. She offers free podcasts of affirmations as well as deeper meditations available through a paid membership. Being the musically-adept person that I am, and having Cubase Studio 4 on my Mac, I imported my three favorite podcast MP3s into Cubase, put them in the order I wanted, and saved as a new MP3—for my own personal use only. That way I could drop it on my cell phone and play it all at once. (My three faves deal with financial abundance, health and weight control, and being happy.)

For Just a Dollar A Day
I encourage you to visit my new friend Todd at his website and learn about his wonderful idea—Give Away a Dollar A Day. I've already joined the campaign.
There are many fun ways in which we can give away a dollar a day to promote the positive flow of abundance energy out into the Universe, and by default attract more of that energy back to us, because that's how it works—what we put out, we get back in Spades (or Aces, depending on the kind of energy we're putting out).
As I was reading Todd's list, a memory returned. I have a friend who has unknowingly been participating in this already, and I witnessed it first-hand. I emailed the story to Todd—you can read it by following this link.
If you are up for the challenge, go for it! If, as Todd says, the idea of giving away a whole dollar unnerves you, give away a quarter. Or even a penny. It's not the dollar amount that counts—it's the attitude that is put into the coin or bill that counts. This is all about the energy.
Give it a shot. Really. It's "only" a dollar. I know—you're saying, "What if it doesn't work? I'll have lost a dollar and I might need that someday". OK, sure.
But... what if it DOES?

Counter Intuitive
Note: this is an import from my previous blog
Looking back at my earliest belief system from the previous post, let's see if I can come up with counter intentions to dismantle these limiting beliefs.
Looking back at my earliest belief system from the previous post, let's see if I can come up with counter intentions to dismantle these limiting beliefs.
- 1. Authority figures are bad and controlling and cannot be trusted
- Authority figures may in some cases be bad or untrustworthy, it's true. But the key point here is about CONTROL.
- NO ONE can control you unless you allow them to, give them permission to control you. I am in control. I control my destiny through my thoughts and the subsequent actions that are in alignment with my thoughts. I have the ability to direct my thoughts and actions in a way that manifests my best reality, regardless of who I encounter.
- 2. I'm rubbish/under par
- Simply not true. If this is based on being given up for adoption ie abandoned, then look at the truth you've come to know: you WERE wanted. You were a victim only of another's bad choices, choices they regret. You are special, valuable, worthy, and vitally important to this world. You are ABOVE par. You are awesome. (I'm saying this to myself.)
- 3. I'm the last resort choice
- See above. You are top choice, first class, A Number One, King of the Hill! You are the BEST choice. Your a-parents wanted YOU desperately. All you need to do is want yourself as desperately and enthusiastically.
- 4. Work extra hard to be good enough or they'll change their minds and dump you
- You don't have to work hard to be good enough, you are already far better than good enough and being better than good enough comes easily to you. If anyone ever walks away from you, it is their loss, not yours. Be the best You that you can be, but do it for yourself.
- 5. Conformity is the key to success
- Nope. INDIVIDUALITY is. Life is like one of those 50,000-piece puzzles. If every piece were the same, the puzzle would be boring to solve and quite possibly wouldn't work right. If everyone on the planet were the same, why have multiples? Every puzzle piece is unique, and each one has a special unique place in the picture. Lose one piece and the picture is incomplete. Try to force one into a place it doesn't belong or fit and it will throw off the picture. We are all here with unique, individual talents and gifts to contribute to the world, and each of us is equally vital.
- 6. A leopard is not allowed to change his spots
- Yes, he is. He's even capable of doing so. You are not here to please others by being something you are not. So don't do it. Instead, embrace your own spots, and if you don't like them, CHANGE them. Some may change with you, others may not. Those that don't should be allowed to fall away as their energies are wrong in combination with yours. If you refuse to change because you're worried about how others will handle it, you are giving their approval of you the permission to control you (see #1 above)! You can become anything, do anything, and have anything you want to be, do or have! If it makes you happy...
- 7. Life should be hard, otherwise it's meaningless
- Life was not meant to be hard! The Universe is abundant. The Divine Creator of the Universe wants us to share in that abundance. If things are too hard, then perhaps you're going about it the wrong way because when you are in alignment with your True Purpose, God shows the way, right? When you are properly aligned, you send out the right energy, which attracts to you the right opportunities to help you get where you're supposed to be. Life is, in fact, MORE meaningful when you are easily attracting to you the things you want to be, do or have, and when you are walking in alignment with your true purpose.
- 8. Generosity is motivated by sympathy: he who is most pathetic wins
- The first half of this might be somewhat true. The second half is not. I do know that I'd rather go through life feeling empowered than feeling pathetic; being successful rather than a failure; and being generous out of the kindness of my heart regardless of the story or perceived "deservedness" because it's just the right thing to do. In fact, generosity offered freely before a story is given is even better. Generosity with your friends, your loved ones—that's beautiful. It's good to give to the less fortunate, too, but NOT JUST to them. Giving only to them and withholding your generosity from, say, your family because they don't "need" it is in itself pathetic. So give just to give. Let generosity itself be your motivation for giving.

Beliefs and Purpose
Note: this is an import from my previous blog
Since discovering the Law of Attraction and undertaking a serious, daily study of it, I've noticed a shift in my consciousness. This is better than therapy: limiting beliefs are making themselves known, and I have been carefully monitoring my thought process to catch them in the act and employ Neuro Linguistic Programming to alter these counter intentions to align with my truest intentions. I'm creating an entirely new belief system. This post is divided into two segments: one focuses on Beliefs, the other on Purpose.
BELIEFS
I've been uncovering many limiting beliefs (LBs) or counter intentions. There seem to be so many—how could I possibly identify and corral all of them in order to appropriately dispose of them? It would take years.
Or so I thought.
Today it occurred to me that every one of my smaller LBs is a sub-genre of a larger, more primitive LB. Today I was able to trace back to several LBs that were instilled in me during my earliest moments on Earth. The smaller beliefs are offshoots and combinations of the principles therein. That's why I've been only somewhat successful in addressing them—I've been pruning the new growths rather than pulling out the entire shrub.
So far, I've traced back to eight total beliefs. There may be more, but eight is a good start. Keep in mind that I was adopted at the age of ten days and waited 42 years to meet my birth family and get their side of the story. So my beliefs were based on the truth that I knew, not the truth I came to know.
The truth that I knew was that my birth parents were separated, my b-mom couldn't take care of me on her own, and there were older siblings. That was it.
The truth that I came to know after meeting them was that I was indeed very much wanted by my birth mother, that she'd lost all of the kids due to a shitty set of circumstances over which she had little control (she thought), that she'd been given the option to give me up in exchange for keeping the existing siblings, that despite relinquishing me to adoption the other five kids were placed in foster homes, and that eventually she was able to reclaim every child but me, which she regretted for the rest of her life. I also learned that she'd never forgotten me, always loved me, missed me terribly, and always wanted to find me (which she did, 42 years later).
That said, my earliest belief system is as follows:
How dare she! I'm really good at being not good enough and pathetic, and there she is trying to out do me at that even! To prove to me that I'm not even good enough at being not good enough/pathetic!
My challenge now is to counter each of those beliefs with positive intentions. It's quite freeing seeing them clearly for the first time, as convoluted as they are. Now I know that I'm going to be all right, because I can attack these head on and CHANGE them (and myself) and those things that upset me before I'll be immune to from here on.
PURPOSE
I'm reading (a bunch of books but most momentarily) Joe Vitale's "Life's Missing Instruction Manual" which has snippets of important concepts. One was about identifying what you really want. He said "I don't know" isn't the correct answer—it's a lie. You just don't want to admit you know, because once you admit to it, then you either have to make it happen, or come up with excuses as to why you aren't making it happen. (He's so right.) So I looked at the clock. I told myself:
OK. For the next ten minutes starting at X, you have a window. During that window, you are allowed to freely state what it is you want to be, do or have, without consequence. Admitting it does NOT mean you have to make it happen, or that you have to make excuses for why you aren't. All you are allowed to do is admit to it. Once the ten minutes are up, the window closes, and you can decide to either make it happen, or forget you ever admitted it.
Then I watched the clock. At 2:50 PM, my window opened.
At 2:55 PM, I realized something.
It's not about being a rock star, or a horsemanship instructor, or teacher. It's about my MISSION STATEMENT. Well, I didn't immediately realize it was a mission statement. What dawned on me, as I wrote down the short list of things to "be", was the driving force behind them. Then I began to understand that as long as it is in perfect alignment with what turns out to be my mission statement, it doesn't matter "how" I execute it.
So. WHY did I hate my former prepress/production job so much? Or graphic design? Because the clientele as well as the work was out of alignment with this MS. Advertising yet another worthless product created solely for the purpose of making the advertiser rich—misaligned. Especially if that product is harmful to the environment or something. Super especially if the advertising is spin doctoring designed to detract from this. In addition, working for bosses who were more interested in cutting production costs but overcharging their clients so as to line their own pockets but were stingy with the faithful employees doing all the work... way out of alignment. The reason my gut clenches when I look at want ads? I'm expecting to find more situations like this OR I am picking up vibes of companies that are out of alignment.
So what do I need to focus on attracting to me? Work that is in alignment with my mission statement. I realized that I could do graphic design for a period of time IF I was doing it for a company that was totally in alignment with my MS. Suddenly the concept of working is no longer accompanied by a strong feeling of nauseating dread.
What I wanna know is, why did it take me so long to figure this out?
The interesting thing is, as you look at my Short List, except for Editor, all of them could be used to fulfill my MS. (I guess an Editor could be editing publications or music for a company that is within alignment—perhaps editing/proofing self-help LoA books or music for meditation/affirmation CDs.) The Parelli program is all about growth, positive progressive thought, and entertaining while teaching. Engaging the minds of people as well as horses to promote positive change. (No wonder.) Music moves people, lyrics contain messages. Writing, well, duh. Non-fiction, of course. Thoughts, not novels. College Prof? Pretty much does that as long as the prof is passionate about their subject and committed to it. I suppose graphic design could be used as this forum as well, if it's more socially oriented rather than as advertising, though it's not my top choice.
The reason I wanted to be a rock musician in the first place was to reach people through the lyrics and music, young impressionable people, and teach them this stuff. Success came easily to me when that, my Mission Statement, was my goal. The minute it became less about that and more about BEING a rock star, fame fortune lifestyle, the harder it got.
Big stuff, eh?
So. Why do you do what you do? Are you SURE it's your purpose? What do YOU really want?
You've got a ten-minute window with no consequences... GO.

- 1. Authority figures are bad and controlling and cannot be trusted
- My b-mom was in prison for child neglect (erroneously). The authorities forced her to relinquish me. I was given a lot of good things but was denied the one thing I wanted more than anything else in my less-than-ten-day-old world—my mother. I had no choice. I was controlled.
- 2. I'm rubbish/under par
- My b-mom had other kids already. That she let me go without a fight (so I thought) and kept the others meant that I must've been sub par in comparison to the siblings. I wasn't good enough to keep. I'm disposable.
- 3. I'm the last resort choice
- I was adopted by truly wonderful people who couldn't have another child any other way, and were so desperate for one that they'd gladly take "anything". I'm not special, I'm just what was settled for. Last resort.
- 4. Work extra hard to be good enough or they'll change their minds and dump you
- Because of #2 and #3, I believe that as long as I'm perfect, good, kind, and generous and keep them happy with me, I'll be allowed to stay; but should I eff up or defy them in any way, they'll lose interest and I'll be abandoned again.
- 5. Conformity is the key to success
- Nobody will like you if you're different. Try to fit in better—you stand out too much. It's wrong to enjoy the attention you get or looking or acting weird/different. Uniqueness makes others uncomfortable. Better than you're uncomfortable and everyone accepts and likes the false "you" than to be your true happy, comfortable and unacceptable self.
- 6. A leopard is not allowed to change his spots
- Once you are established as being one thing or behaving a certain way, you are obligated to stay that way. You cannot suddenly change your mind and be or do something else, because it upsets the apple cart when others have to adapt to your new behaviors. You don't want to do that, because you're already on thin ice as it is being last resort choice. Your role was set early on, so you just have to make do. Because we are comfortable with you in THIS role only. We have successfully manipulated you to fit this role because it serves US. Your role is strictly there to benefit us—not you—just remember you are on permanent probation with us.
- 7. Life should be hard, otherwise it's meaningless
- Taking the easy way out is wrong. You only deserve it if you struggle to get it. The more you struggle the more it's worth. You're spoiled—which is also bad—if it comes to you too easily, or you must be doing something shady to get it (suspicion).
- 8. Generosity is motivated by sympathy: he who is most pathetic wins
- Case in point: Mother (my adoptive one) was always rushing to give money to the daughter or niece with the biggest sob story. But if you asked, as if you deserved it, she would snort in disbelief and tell you to go out and get it yourself, you have a good job, you don't need (deserve) it. I was admittedly quite good at eliciting sympathy by being pathetic and hopeless, as was my more artistic niece. She was so good that all it took was a pout, worried eyes, and a woeful moan in her voice and boom. How much do I make that check out for? My sister and the other niece, however, weren't into the whole pathetic act. So they got "less". My sister would pull pathetic only if she had to. My niece, on the other hand, avoided that like the plague, instead getting insulted that she didn't seem to be as "deserving". Mother paid for both niece's undergrad studies. Mother was offended when the younger niece expected Mother to pay for grad school. When Mother refused, younger niece decided she couldn't go to grad school and it was Grandma's "fault".
The Short List:
Editor (music or words, because I love tweaking things)
Author/Writer
Composer (music)
Parelli Natural Horsemanship Instructor
College Prof w/a PhD (if teaching something I'm really passionate about)
My Mission Statement:
To engage people's minds, encourage them towards positive change, teach them to think alternatively and progressively, and inspire them to grow. To entertain them a bit along the way. To be a benefactor, a financial conduit to assist others in achieving their purpose along this common path.
So. WHY did I hate my former prepress/production job so much? Or graphic design? Because the clientele as well as the work was out of alignment with this MS. The Birth of MM
Note: this is an import from my previous blog
Haven't popped into this blog in awhile, so MUCH has happened as detailed in other blogs.
I've had a thought.
I think I'm changing direction on this blog while it is early still. Since I also maintain two hobby blogs (well, they started out that way) and a private blog (where the really personal stuff goes) and a music career blog (sorely ignored as well), this is sitting here lonely, and I had a thought.
This Law of Attraction thing fascinates me.
I seem to believe that perhaps my destiny is to become—oh, please don't laugh, I say it with a grain of salt—a personal growth/positive thinking "guru".
For as long as I can recall, I've been absolutely CERTAIN that it's possible to be, do and have anything you desire. The more I've read lately, the more I've realized that these concepts are intrinsic—they aren't new. I've been spouting these philosophies forever, but stopped after getting too much negative feedback (in the forms of scoffing, snorting in disbelief, derisive laughter, head shaking, and so on). Over time, outside influences worked their magic on me and I, too, forgot how to focus on the desired outcome and fell into the trap of believing that "reality" is what it is, that this is just the way it is, and that we must resign ourselves to our fate because we have no control over it.
The further back into my past that I look, the more I see that before the world got ahold of me, I was a lot better off. It's kind of sucky that I have to read books and study how to relearn something I once knew how to do very well!
But I remember when I was small, several things:
The day I first heard about the Ohio Lottery's existence. That would have been sometime in 1973, when I was ten. There was a report on TV or radio or I read it in the paper. Just buy a ticket for a mere fifty cents, and you could win a million dollars! I remember distinctly hearing the voice in my head say "Aha, there it IS! THAT is how I'll become rich! I'm going to win the lottery one day—when I'm old enough to buy a ticket." I knew that one day, I'd be a multimillion-dollar lottery jackpot winner. I said as much to my parents. They snickered. I was told that it was very unlikely that I'd ever win, because "nobody ever really wins the lottery, that's just a story". Well, that didn't make sense to me. If they have a game, with a winner, then somebody has to eventually win, right? So... if all you have to do is buy a ticket, don't I have as good a chance as anyone else? Hmm.
I'm still waiting, faithfully playing the same numbers. Here's the funny thing. I've won a couple bucks here and there. Rarely did my numbers come up. Until recently. Since last fall, at least one of my numbers has appeared in nearly every single draw! Once I got the gold Megaball! A few times two of them have appeared! I take the increasing frequency as a sign that it's on its way now. It's speeding up. I just have to hold the course.
Another thing from when I was small was this vision I kept having. I can see "me". This version of me is far better off, thinner, happier, and just plain better than the current version. I can describe her environment, what she wears, how she behaves, the house... the feeling of being that person. It feels great. I want to be her. I've seen this since I was small. I've gotten the sense that she is very well off, pretty much writes her own ticket and has a flexible schedule, and that she does something unconventional for a career. I thought perhaps it was the offshoot of being the famous rock star I wanted to be, but... I don't get the sense that she's a rock star. I had the sense that she was a teacher of some sort, someone people turned to for advice. Metaphysical, philosophical, new agey advice. Judging by the multilevel Mediterranean style open-architecture home with floor-to-ceiling windows (lots of light), fresh air, and East Indian/Native American motifs in the decor, I'd say definitely she's a spiritual adviser. I get the sense that she writes, speaks, interacts, and teaches. Imparts wisdom.
Guru.
Of a sort.
Now that I'm studying the LOA and Prosperity Gospels and the works of Joe Vitale, Bob Proctor, Anthony Robbins, Joel Osteen and reading books such as Quantum Success, The Secret, The Artists' Way, and so on, and I'm delving deeper into my spirituality... I'm on a profound journey right now and it is life-changing. Even the horsemanship comes into play. I think... maybe this is my purpose. I talk with myself, write, come up with all sorts of theories from somewhere, and then I'll be lead to an article or website or TV show and there it is. Black and white. Absolute confirmation that my theories are on track. It's bizarre.
This morning, I started writing in a journal. It was just a nudge to open the notebook and write. What came out sounds like the beginning of a book. Though it sounds a bit pompous even to me and I doubt anyone is really reading this blog, I think I can safely divulge that I think I'm writing a book right now. I think it's started. We'll see.
Since I was unable to import the comments (not that I had many over at WordPress just yet), here is the one comment to the original post:

Since I was unable to import the comments (not that I had many over at WordPress just yet), here is the one comment to the original post:
No, someone IS reading this particular blog, and I am impressed! You DO write really well! You ARE inspiring! I am on a very similar path, discovering that I want to teach people about the LOA. I already do, in a way, as a personal trainer, Spinning instructor and Master Instructor for Spinning (trainer's trainer). In my own little niche I inspire them to believe they can have, do or be anything they want, but usually from a fitness perspective. I even have two classes I teach at fitness conferences called Moving Mountains and the Secret Ride. But I, like you, want to reach more people, to help them learn and grow and apply the LOA.
I can't tell you how I came across your blog, I just did. It's pretty amazing. I am just starting my own blog, focusing on the LOA in all areas of one's life. And some of what I've written, including in some articles that I haven't yet put on my blog yet (to be edited) is so much like what you've written! It's uncanny. Especially your blog about your family experience. My family baggage has held me down for so long, and I have recently opened up the suitcases, not to evaluate the contents so much, but to find out what my blocks are, so I can take responsibility and move forward! The other similarity is that I am putting together my own Mission Statement which reflects your quite a bit! I am currently enrolled in a 6-month training program with John Assaraf (from The Secret) called the Having It All Challenge. It is this Challenge that has inspired me to do all of the above.
You have a gift. Keep on writing! And people will be attracted to what you write!
